{mcgough family}

On a recent trip back to my hometown in Iowa, I spent some of my time photographing family. This was so much fun! Living so far away makes it difficult for me to see much of my family often, but scheduling some family sessions with them made it so that I was able to see a lot of my relatives in the short week I was home.  It was so nice to see everyone! I spent one afternoon in the park with my cousin Shannon, her husband Jeremy, and their two ADORABLE children – Lainey and Liam. They are such a darling little family. It had been a handful of years since I had seen Shannon and Jeremy and this was the very first time I was meeting their children – I was so excited to meet them! They are just too cute!! Lainey is sweet and spunky and Liam has the bluest eyes I have ever seen! I love those two littles and I’m so glad I finally got to meet them!

Thank you Shannon and Jeremy for allowing me to capture these sweet and playful moments with you and your children! xo

Here are some photos I have selected to share from this session . . .

{a little something pretty}

Lately, alongside “eggs, bread, milk, and butter,” I’ve been making it a point to add “flowers” to my grocery list. I encourage you to do the same! They are an instant pick-me-up and who couldn’t use a little something pretty?

I’ve grown to love a few flowers in particular – hydrangeas, peonies, gardenias, and dahlias are currently among my favorites!

{spring}

One of the best times in the desert is springtime. In the spring, the weather is perfect. With that, and the extended hours of beautiful light, come afternoons and evenings outdoors playing and creating memories. In my daughter’s case this includes playing dress-up and eating fruit! Of course I am there by her side, watching intently and forever capturing these moments of springtime. Very soon, it will be summer and the 110+ degree weather will keep us mostly indoors or in the pool. For now, we enjoy the sweet season of spring.

These moments are simply splendid.

{baby kira}

Beautiful baby Kira graced the world with her presence in early April. I met her when she just brand new, less than two weeks old! She’s simply perfect and was such a joy to photograph!

Congratulations again Nick &  Michele and big brother Jaxon! xo

{michele: a maternity session}

My good friend Michele and I spent one afternoon together a few months ago documenting her beautiful pregnancy. This is her second child, a baby girl this time (baby Kira – who arrived in April!). She is so beautiful and was truly glowing. I was so happy to help her capture this moment forever. Pregnancy is absolutely one of the most amazing and beautiful things a woman can experience and it really does go by so quickly (even though during pregnancy it might not seem so). It is great to be able to capture these moments so that you can remember and cherish them forever.

Michele you are such a beautiful and sweet person. Thank you for being such a wonderful friend!
